MONDAY:
  1. set your goals for the trimester (long-term) and this week (short-term)
  2. Download the reading into notability:
  3. if you do not have notability, read the chapter online
  4. read the first chapter with the class (popcorn)
  5. complete the worksheet for pages 1-6 after you read the section
  6. working with a partner, create a +/- chart for wood, another chart for coal, and one for oil/gas. In each chart, record 2-3 positives and 2-3 negatives for the energy source.
  7. view this video as a summary of your reading: Humans & Energy
  8. how we use energy in the USA watch the 2m video for a brief overview

TUESDAY:
  1. View the video introduction: Fossil Fuels OR how were fossil fuels formed? and discuss in class
  2. Open chapter 3: Fossil Fuels (p18-24)
  3. Read your section for the jigsaw. Answer the questions in your reading. Write a one sentence summary of your section. Select 2 facts to share from your reading. Be prepared to share your findings with the class.
  4. present your information to the class; field questions from you peers.
  5. John Prine "Paradise" (the song about coal country in your reading)
  6. watch the price of oil go up (current data on oil prices)

  1. Take the quiz based on yesterday's reading

  2. Select the energy source you will research (options: Nuclear energy, biomass, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, storage-type (dam) hydropower, run-of-river hydropower, hydrogen, wave energy, tidal energy)
  3. go drive.google.com and use your mypanther email to log in
  4. open your shared document and begin the tasks

FRIDAY:

  2. open your shared document and begin answering the Alternative Energy Portfolio questions. I have provided some resources to get you started, but you will need to do additional research to get all of the information you need.
  3. Be sure to schedule a retake if you did not pass your quiz yesterday

  2. host a team meeting - record notes on the document provided and turn it in to Mrs Ganske (this is worth points)
  3. continue working on your research and recording your answers
TUESDAY:

  2. On Friday you will give a 5 minute presentation on your learning from your research. You will also share your model or experiment. Now is the time to start planning what this will look and sound like for your group.
WEDNESDAY:

THURSDAY:
  1. DUE TODAY: 3d model or experiment with visual aid and the What I Have Learned Doc
  2. Tomorrow you present your learning and share your model or experiment - make sure you are ready to do so!

PRESENTATION DAY - come ready to share your learning and ready to learn from others.
YOU WILL BE QUIZZED on the presentation information (academic grade).
You will be graded on the quality of your presentation and final product.
